Unfortunately, also a big, fat disappointment came across. Apparently Christmas market on Sunday is a red light to go to Mountreux. It seemed like the whole Switzerland came to visit this market. We looked for a parking spot for about an hour and ended up parking few kilometers away up a hill. As we anyway planned on a little hike, it wasn't such a bad thing in the end :)
I was really curious how it will look like after hearing quite good reviews. I guess we were not that lucky in the end - it was very foggy in the valley, so we didn't see the mountains around Geneva lake. Also parking is very complicated here, Saturday is a normal working day in Switzerland with no parking discounts. We could park only for 1,5h and we treated this time valuable. Later we fond out that there was a marathon, so many streets were closed and we couldn't access all the objects we planned on visiting. Seems like we need to return another time :)

P.s. The huge fontain in Geneva lake is 200m tall and pumps water with a speed 500l/s. Crazy ... and also not very energy friendly :p

Lyon

We arrived late in Lyon and stayed in a room in a house of two older woman. Next day we made a visit to Lyon center. The city is bigger than I imagined. First we went to a church of our lady on a hilltop. Lots of wine... That was our task for the 4 days we stayed here - get in every yard that has a chateau in its name, hope it's a wine yard, hope we can taste some wine, hope we can afford some :) Although, it would have been very irresponsible (as we transported by car) and close to impossible to visit every of the wine yards we saw there, we went to many houses and tasted many wines, just like we imagined it.
We were actually staying in a village some 30 km away from Bordeaux, exactly where all the wine yards are located. Took the car and went to explore some wine. Most people were speaking actually quite good English, were very friendly (we even got an extra bottle for evening for free once) and also showed us their storage places. This was the most enjoyable Christmas present purchase I ever had :)

Besides trying out wines, we actually visited also Bordeaux itself. Many old gates are separating the city from the river.

Seville

We spent here 3 nights in total. We have flat with a great view on mountains and a very active football field from our balcony! This little town have very lively bars all day long. The only difference to other cities is that thous bars and restaurants are occupied by retired British people. Sometimes we were wandering in which country we really are and are we the youngest people here? :D
Just in a walking distance we could reach various beaches of Benalmadena. We took the chance and did a hike up on one of the mountains. The view was obviously great :p

First we went to Ronda and saw probably one of the most beautiful bridges ever built - Puente Nuevo! It's connecting 2 parts of the city Ronda, opened at the very end of 18th century, reaching 98m of height. It have taken quite some people lives - first during its construction 50 workers have died, and later during the civil war, a chamber in the bridge was used as a prison, where prisoners were thrown down through the windows.

Well, in Ronda the weather was windy and rainy, but still quite ok.
We headed to Gibraltar and were happy to find that we can keep on driving on the right side :) When we finally arrived at the cape, a heavy rain started. For few minutes, wearing a rain coat, we manages to get out of the car, take few pictures and observe the angry waves of the sea. The Rock of Gibraltar, that stretches through the middle of Gibraltar, is more than 400m high and contains many tunneled roads that are opened only for military.

Interestingly, the last referendum of Spanish sovereignty was organised in 2002, which Gibraltarians, of course, rejected.

On the way back we had to turn around and look for another way. The rain water collected on the street deep enough, that one car in front of us left standing in the huge puddle. The city was full of water and further on most of the road was very rainy and windy. We're happy to be safe at home now :)

Oh, yes, and we were in Los Angelos :D (see in pictures).

We took few walks along the beach and enjoyed some Valencia paella. One evening we observed a huge moon spreading its light all over the sea and a little Venice alike building block nearby the beach :) We really wanted to take a picture of the moon, but i the dark it didn't work out and we just had to live with the thought that not every nice moment has to be documented. We have our memory for that :)

In Valencia you can see the green river. It used to be a river going through the city that flooded in 1957. After that city decided to dry it. Now it is a huge park with old bridges over your head. Absolutely weird to walk along a park that used to be a river bead :)
Another impressive thing in Valencia is the City of Art and Science complex. It's been built between years 1996 and 2005. The architecture looks like from a different world. Very modern and at the same time sort of cosmic. Buildings are used mainly for exhibitions, as museums, concert and opera hall. There is even little garden with palms and cactus on on of the roofs :)

We took the free city tour and ended up eating nice tapas near one of the biggest markets in Europe. Tapas places around the market always have fresh fish and other ingredients.
One of the interesting points in tour was the silk market that basically was a bank. Silk market has a little tour where people who couldn't pay their loans ended up for 3 month. If nobody payed their loan during this period, these people were executed. Interesting method to deal with debts.

We actually were not really sure what we should see here and just went on a very narrow ( comfortable width for only one car ) road through mountains and eventually realized that that the important thing was on the road! Beautiful views on the valley through which we could see even glimpses from the ocean. The road itself was a great challenge that sure brought up a lot of adrenaline. Peter dealt with it very well, but I'm sure I wouldn't be able to drive these steep slopes and sharp turns where you can't see any cars that might be coming ahead to you. There will be a video where I will include the drive on this road ;)

Sigita jumped up full of excitement - Yeah, finally we'll visit Teide today. I just got to bed few hours earlier and wasn't really in the mood to drive an old truck up to a volcano. Although, thinking about it now, it does sound adventurous. After a short breakfast (or midnight snack), off we went into the night. The GPS calculated the shortest route for us, which was much more fun the main road we thought we would be taking. 2 hours and 2500m in altitude later, we reached the base of Teide's cable car. Just in time to make amazing pictures of the sunrise in this stunningly looking environment.

Today was the long awaited day when we went up the volcano el Teide and it was amazing! Wiki says "it is the third highest volcano on a volcanic ocean island". If you ever want to have a feeling you're on the Mars, this place definitely leaves that kind of impression. This can't be a place on Earth! :)
We wanted to go there and see the sunrise but the first cable car should have been going up only at 9 am. Due to the wind, it was almost 1,5 h late. However, we managed to take some pictures of the peak in sunrise on our way there.
To reach the crater, we should have requested a permit 2 month earlier as it has limited number of people who can visit it. So we didn't get there. Anyway, I think this was an amazing experience and we were missing only the last 200 m to the peak. At 3554 m we both were as high as never before (well, except flying in a plain..:) ) !
Ouh, and I took plenty of rocks with me :D
